anyway, the reason why i'm not finnished already is because I went on a trip to track a group of dwarf dragons, but halfway through the last day, I threw up. When I came back home, the nasea was so bad I had to go to the hospital and get an IV tube in my arm. Then I felt better. Until... I got another stomach virus! Yay! Had to go to the hospital a secound time and get another IV along with an xray of my stomach. Now I feel better and hopefully won't have to go again. My IV:

Sounds aweful. Liking the story though. I'll have a look at redrafting it into something that might sound a bit better.

    • Do think this sounds any better?

Before we start, some introductions are probably in order. I am Dr. Cockatrice the second, proprietor Cockatrice and co. It's not a big buisness. A very small one in fact: it has only one other employee.

I know, I know, but these days dragons are scarce, and so are enterprises like this. My assistant is Noah. We hang out together, we've been friends ever scince kindergarden when we found out that we both played the same game after school. I should probably get on with the story.

So there I was, in front of the dragon, white knuckles stretched around my field guide, ready for Noah to say the the word. "zhaan." Draconic for "Run." [ed note: why are they speaking draconic?]. Quickly I dashed out the right passage while Noah dived for the left. I could feel the confused dragon's breath behind me as I ran for my life.

Oh, I should start at the begining.

  • This wiki has suddenly become very busy indeed which has quite suprised me. I keep thinking that it is a temporary burst of activity but it keeps on going and I am suprissed and please. However, it does mean that I am not able to to look through as much as I want in as much detail as I want and then respond to it as I should so I want to apologies to all of the people who have yet to recive a welcome message on their wall. Aditionally I want to apologies for simply reverting edits with inacurate grammer/misconceptions.

I will attempt to rectify both of these things but it may take some time especially as I am busy IRL at the moment.

    Halloween Title

Today is the 31st of October which is All Hallows Eve more commonly known as Halloween. All Hallows originated from Celtic harvest festivals before being adopted into the Christian calendar as a three-day ‘opportunity’ to worship all the dead saints (hallows), martyrs and other faithful dead. It has taken on another twist to become the secular festival we all know and love today

Me: I was (kind of) getting there

It is typical for me to begin this blog post by talking about the draconic alliance (I did it last time - I am also continuing the tradition of being late but never mind) but as a group of wikis that includes both vampedia and WereWiki, it would be silly for us to neglect them on today of all days and so we are going to start with them.

If you are only interested in how Halloween pertains to dragons please click here.

    The Draconic League

    WereWiki

    Werewolves, need I say more?

Able to transform on a full moon these creatures walk through the woods of Scandinavia, continental Europe and even parts of the UK. Their claws and jaw spread a virus that can transform people into a werewolf themselves.

    Read more about werewolves here.

    Vampedia

Extract from vampedia’s wonderful article on vampires:

A vampire is a being from folklore that subsists by feeding on the life essence (generally in the form of Blood) of the living. In European folklore, vampires were undead beings that often visited loved ones and caused mischief or deaths in the neighbourhoods they inhabited when they were alive. They wore shrouds and were often described as bloated and of ruddy or dark countenance, markedly different from today's gaunt, pale, and an elegant vampire which dates from the early 19th century.

Vampiric entities have been recorded in most cultures; the term vampire, previously an arcane subject, was popularized in the West in the early 19th century, after an influx of vampire superstition into Western Europe from areas where vampire legends were frequent, such as the Balkans and Eastern Europe; local variants were also known by different names, such as shtriga in Albania, vrykolakas in Greece and strigoi in Romania. This increased level of vampire superstition in Europe led to mass hysteria and in some cases resulted in corpses being staked and people being accused of vampirism.

    The Draconic Alliance

    Dragons Wiki

People don’t know whether shadow dragons are native to shadowfell, the dungeons and dragons plane of the shadow, or were simply transformed by the time they spent there. Some have now moved to the continent of Faerûn, the main setting of the Forgotten Realms, where they inhabit the passages under our feet known as the Underdark along with dark places on the surface such as ruins and dark forests.

They have black translucent scales to help them camouflage in the shadows as they wait for their prey which they kill with a gas from which none can escape. Having killed their victim they then consume their soul and hoard their bones. Only sorcerers dare approach these creatures which are fortunately rare.

Read more about dungeons and dragons’ dragons here.

    The Dragon Handbook

Death dragons wander through the world, rising out of their caves at night (as they can be killed instantly by the sun) to scavenge on dead bodies. Woe betides anyone who crosses these dark skeletal creatures as they paralyse people with their eyes before devouring them alive. They are at their greatest power during a full moon and so are sometimes confused with werewolves.

    Dragonology Wiki

Have you ever seen a basilisk? You may have seen one for definite (by following its poisonous tracks and checking by watching spiders and swallows flee from it) but you can never be sure you haven’t. Why? They shapeshift.

Hiding in the form of another dragon or as an inconspicuous animal they move around the world stealthily hidden from those who might wish them harm, devouring their prey after hypnotising it with its green eyes.

Although Basilisks are not evil per se, they are shapeshifting and highly aggressive making them a grave danger to any dragonologist attempting to study such a creature. It is best to defend yourself with a mirror as when confronted by a dragonologist and its own reflection the basilisk invariably decides to attack its own reflection.

I am afraid despite my best efforts I have still missed several wikis (namely the inheritance cycle wiki so if you are from one of the Wikis not included and have something to add then please contact me in the comments I have linked to bellow.

I know I haven’t got round to actually writing a proper introduction yet but you may know me from my Autumn 2018 blogpost. Anyway I am back with a new suggestion. Some of you Wikis have live chat, others don’t. But no one is ever on it. So here’s the big idea.

A Draconic Alliance wide Discord chat. This means that there is far more chance of finding someone on it who is interested in dragons and even if you don’t you can just leave a message on it and wait for somebody to get back to you.

    I’ll see you there!

    For comments please see here.

P.S. For any admins who want to show a list of members in the rail on the right hand side of the content check out the Discord Integrator or just make me an admin and I will take care of it all myself.

    Autumn Frame

    Autumn is here

Wow, this took me longer than expected to write! We are now past the autumn equinox which was the 23rd of September and marks the first day of autumn (*enter legal notice voice* written in the UK - climates may vary www.beclimateaware.example *exit legal notice voice*) even past the harvest moon (the first full moon after the autumn equinox by which farmers would bring in their crop and it is long past my definition of whenever I think it is (in this case the 5th of September) and my friends definition of the 1st of September.

    Me: I was getting there.

Now it is autumn any way you would like to measure it, I thought I would (finally) publish a blog post on what autumn means in our draconic universes. So without further ado let’s plunge into some examples.

    Dragons Wiki

In the universe of dungeons and dragons, Sehanine is the god of autumn and the moon and the patron of trickery and illusions. Although she, like the other gods, abandoned the dragon god Io to his demise she is worshipped by a surprising number of evil chromatic dragons, especially green and black ones, revere her.

Besides their love for trickery, they see her dominion over trickery and illusions as a facet of dominion over love as for most chromatic dragons, love is a trick to play on others. Purple and grey dragons also sometimes revere Sehanine for her instructions to seek new horizons: for greys across the surface of the world, and for purples under it.

Find out more about Io and dragon religion.

    Inheritance Cycle

The seasons play an important role in the Inheritance Cycle. The first book Eragon is set in winter and in it Eragon is surprised to find that, unlike the north where he comes from, Teirm is free of snow. The books take place over the course of a year with Eragon being set in winter, Eldest in spring, Brisingr in summer and the penultimate book, Inheritance, in the current season, autumn.

    Dragonology Wiki

In the dragonology universe, the temperature of Antarctica begins to rise and so like the Arctic Turn the frost dragon which lives in these cold climes takes to its great wings and makes the 22,000-mile flight from Antarctica to the Arctic.

Setting off in early October and arriving in the Arctic by late November the flight is perhaps the most gruelling migration route for any animal let alone a forty foot dragon. Although the majority of their flights will be spent on long legs over empty water they will pass over land making this the best time of year to observe these majestic creatures in flight.

hey fly in various formations with V being the most common and efficient but W, S, X and O have been seen. To enable them to make the flight their chicks are extremely fast growing and are able to fly within a few weeks of hatching.

Find out more about dragonology dragons.

I would have loved to include some items from members of The Draconic League however this blog post was already late and hey WereWiki fans I spoke about the full moon!

Also if you are from one of the Wikis not included and have something to add then please contact me in the comments I have linked to bellow.
